영어교육과에서는 실용적인 영어에 능통하고, 영어 교수-학습지도 능력을 갖추어, 국제어로서의 영어를 효과적으로 사용하고 지도할 수 있는 영어 교사 양성을 목표로 하고 있습니다. 이를 위해 영어로 ‘이해(reception)’하고 ‘표현(production)’하는 기능을 충실히 연마할 수 있는 다양한 영어 실습 과목을 제공하고 있습니다. 또한 모든 학생이 이론적 지식의 습득을 기반으로 한 전문화 된 영어 교수 능력을 갖출 수 있도록 영어학, 영어교육학, 영미문학 등 영어 관련 학문을 제공합니다. 이에 따라 학생들은 영어 교사로서의 자질과 능력을 충분히 갖추고 일선 교육 현장에서 창의적인 교사로 활동하기 위하여 성실히 매진하고 있습니다. 1985년 학과 설립 이래 수많은 졸업생을 배출하였고, 졸업생의 대부분이 중등학교 교사로 재직 중입니다.

The Department of English Education at Korea National University of Education is committed to fostering English teachers who demonstrate proficiency in practical English and possess comprehensive English teaching and learning capabilities, thereby enabling them to effectively utilize and instruct English as an international language. In pursuit of this objective, the department provides a diverse array of English language courses designed to enable students to diligently refine their skills in both English reception and production. Furthermore, we offer comprehensive studies in English linguistics, English education, and English literature to ensure that all students acquire specialized English teaching competencies rooted in theoretical understanding. Consequently, students are deeply committed to enhancing their qualifications and capacities as English educators, aspiring to become innovative leaders in the field of education. Since its establishment in 1985, the department has cultivated a substantial cohort of graduates, the majority of whom presently serve as educators in middle and high schools.
